An HVAC system past 12–15 years is usually costing more to run than it would cost to replace over time, and repairs on obsolete equipment get expensive fast. Replacement is also the one moment you can correct a system that was wrong for the house from the start.
AttiCal is a licensed contractor (Attical Inc. # 1126472) and we size equipment to the home — square footage, insulation levels, duct condition and layout — rather than simply matching whatever was there before. An oversized system short-cycles, never dehumidifies properly and wears out early; an undersized one runs constantly.
Because we also do attic insulation and duct work, we can tell you when insulation or duct sealing would let you buy a smaller, cheaper system and still be more comfortable. That advice comes before the sale, not after.
